UCCS OIS Student Success Story: Evie
Evie just finished her junior year at UCCS. She has enjoyed learning about health and nutrition in College and Career and cooking classes during her time at college, and has applied it to cooking healthy meals for herself in her apartment. She makes her own grocery lists, purchases ingredients at the store, and uses a variety of kitchen tools and appliances to put it all together. Evie is welcoming and inclusive to everyone, often hosting cooking or baking parties for her friends. She also attends many on-campus events each week and plans outings with friends to have fun in the off-campus community.
Evie has a passion for singing and has been a member of the Pitch Peak A Cappella Choir at UCCS for most of her college career. She initially joined the group with some OIS support to help her navigate attending practices and using the music practice rooms at the Ent Center for the Arts. Evie was quickly embraced by her fellow students as part of the Choir’s tight-knit community and now participates in the group independently. She is extremely dedicated to them, and has attended all of her choir’s weekly rehearsals, concerts, yearly tryouts, group bonding activities, and showcases.
Evie has found a community full of music and meaningful friendships through this campus club, where she can share her voice, interact with others, and showcase her talents!
