Application Details
The Office of Inclusive Services follows the tuition payment and deposit policies identified by the UCCS Student Accounts office.

Applications are open from October 2025 through January 1st, 2026. Interviews will be held January 12 -14, 2026, and applicants will be notified of acceptance by April 1, 2026.
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 26
The student must be 18 by October 1st of the Fall semester they are starting at UCCS
Have received a high school diploma, certificate of completion, or equivalent
Some proficiency in reading and writing
Have a documented intellectual disability (per HEOA, 2008 definition)
Demonstrate strong motivation to attend college
Possess communication skills sufficient to interact with peers, faculty, and staff on campus
Have a documented history of meeting behavioral and attendance expectations in previous employment, training, and/or educational programs
Be able to attend to personal hygiene and medical needs independently, including medication management, routine medical processes, and other self-care activities
Have the ability to adhere to UCCS’s Code of Conduct
Demonstrate the ability to manage free time independently
Demonstrate the ability to self-monitor and self-manage behaviors
Demonstrates the ability to accept personal responsibility for actions and maintains respect for self and others
Able to handle changes in routine; can be flexible in fluctuating circumstances
Show a clear desire to participate in and complete the Comprehensive Higher Education Certificate
The following documentation MUST be included along with the application:
- Most recent Individualized Education Plan (IEP) - Usually Senior year
- Junior year IEP
- High School transcript
- Psychological evaluation from school or other qualified professional
- Student support survey
- Letter of recommendation form completed by a teacher (only letters through this form will be accepted)
- Letter of recommendation form completed by a community member (only letters through this form will be accepted)
- Parental Expectation & Readiness Form
- Student video that contains:
- Introduction – Share your name, where you are from, and something unique about yourself.
- Why UCCS? – Tell us why you want to attend the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
- Your future goals – Highlight classes, activities, or career paths you are most excited about.
Upload your video to YouTube (set to Unlisted). Please have the video ready before you start your application! You'll need to share the URL for the video in the application.
Once your completed application and all documents have been received and reviewed, you will be contacted about the next steps. We must have all documentation before we can consider an application or schedule an interview.
Admission decisions regarding the 2026-2027 academic year will be made no later than April 2026.
Decisions are based on:
- Applicant's learning needs and desire to attend college.
- The ability of the Office of Inclusive Services to meet the applicant's needs and goals.
- The ability of the applicant to negotiate transitions between classes and buildings, lunch, and non-academic activities.
- Potential of the applicant to successfully achieve their goals.
- Commitment from the applicant's family/caregivers to support the goals of the student.
