No, students must conclude secondary education with a high school diploma, certificate of completion or equivalent before fall enrollment.
Students are not required to live on campus, but campus apartments are available for those who wish to live on campus. Students who choose to live on campus must live with other students from the Office of Inclusive Services for the first two years. After showing they have the skills necessary, they can choose to live with roommates outside the program or on their own.
No, transportation to and from the campus is not provided. On-campus transportation is provided by UCCS shuttles, and all student have access to the shuttles to get around campus. The OIS can work with students to help them learn to navigate public transportation including Uber, Lyft, etc. However, transportation to and from UCCS is the responsibility of the student.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer private or individual tours of campus or places your students may be utilizing. The OIS program is an inclusive program, so your students will be in various buildings and classrooms around campus just like any student, so it will depend on what they're specializing in.
The university offers campus tours (not specific to OIS) where you can see the layout of the campus, the buildings and classrooms, the Rec Center and more! Campus Tour Info.
We have a handful of Campus Visits that we offer prior to the application window opening; please check this page to see when the next one is: https://inclusiveservices.uccs.edu/information-sessions-and-college-visits
No. Students' schedules are like all other college student schedules and look different daily. Each day may look completely different depending on the student’s classes, social events, internships, or work. Commuter students are typically on campus three days per week, and students who live on campus have some participation on campus every day.
Students will have the opportunity to meet new people by going to class, eating at the dining hall or cafe, joining a club, participating in intramural sports, and attending events hosted by the university. The more you socialize rather than staying home or in your apartment, the more people you will meet.
