Biographical Information

 

Anne Cardea, Esq. is the Employment Coordinator for the Office of Inclusive Services (OIS) in the College of Education. She collaborates with students with intellectual disabilities supported by the OIS to explore the students' interests in employment, develop their employment skills, and connect the students with work experience on or off campus during their time as university students. The goal of this collaboration is to prepare the students for meaningful employment after graduation in an integrated environment that contributes to the level of independence they want in their lives.

Prior to joining the OIS team in the Summer of 2024, Ms. Cardea was the founder and owner of Cardea Law, LLC.  She practiced law in Arapahoe, Lincoln, and Elbert counties as a guardian ad litem, representing children's best interests in child welfare and juvenile delinquency cases.  
Ms. Cardea also provided pro bono representation for community members and people seeking asylum in immigration cases.  Before opening her own firm, Ms. Cardea taught 8th grade Language Arts in Title 1 schools and engaged in a litigation career in insurance defense, primarily defending healthcare providers in medical malpractice cases. 

Ms. Cardea earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Duke University with a concentration in Neuroscience and a minor in German.  
She was a member of the Duke Women's Golf Team, which won a National Championship in 1999.  Ms. Cardea earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver and maintains Bar admissions in Virginia and Colorado.
